London: Actor Colin Farrell says he hates going near water owing to his poor swimming skills.
The Irish actor, plays a fisherman who finds a mermaid in new movie `Ondine` and admits he never feels confident in the sea, Contactmusic reported.
"I won`t even take a bath. Actually I can swim but I`m not good in water. It depends on how close I am to shore. I`m not a good swimmer. I`ve got a family of good swimmers, all the kids. My brothers and two sisters are great swimmers but I could never swim," Farrell said.
The 33-year-old actor was also found portraying such a nice, pleasant character "boring", though he got really close to his big screen alter ego Syracuse.
"It was so boring. I didn`t get to scalp anyone. It was really lovely. It was really nice to be able to play a character that wasn`t burdened by the notion of responsibility or wasn`t consumed with the idea of pretence, even in an unaware way. So, there was a simplicity and a humility to the character that was really, really lovely," Farrell said.
"It was the first time in twelve years to play a character that I wasn`t looking forward to leaving. The first time in twelve years that I felt, like, `I`m going to miss Syracuse a bit,` even his name," he added.
