Eric Clapton spends 3 million pounds on specially built Ferrari

London: Eric Clapton has reportedly shelled out around 3 million dollars on a one-of-a-kind Ferrari built especially for him.

The rock star, 66, who is a renowned car collector, worked with the secretive Special Projects division to re-body a Ferrari 458 Italia – itself worth 173,000 pounds.

It was put on show at HR Owen’s Ferrari dealership in London ahead of the 458 Spider launch – but got so much attention it was quickly removed.

“It was on display very briefly but caused a big stir in the car community,” the Mirror quoted Tim Burton, of supercar site, as saying.

Ferrari refused to reveal details but it is thought to be a homage to one of Clapton’s favourite 1970s 512BB, which he once crashed.
