London: A scruffy, glassy-eyed chihuahua named Yoda has been crowned the ‘world’s ugliest dog’, beating a one-eyed chihuahua and a blind 15-year-old pug in the competition.
The 14-year old Chinese-crested Chihuahua mix with protruding tongue and gangly legs was awarded the honour by judges in California, reports The Telegraph. Yoda`s owner Terry Schumacher revealed that she had fled when she first saw the two-pound dog abandoned behind an apartment building, thinking that it was a rat. But on closer inspection, she realised the diminutive ball of hair and limbs was actually a dog. Schumacher then took her home and named the pet after the pint-sized crumpled-faced Jedi master from the ‘Star Wars’ films, to whom the dog bears a striking canine resemblance. ANI
