I keep negative things out of my life: Sharon Stone

London: `Basic Instinct` star Sharon Stone says she keeps negativity at bay to be happy in a relationship.

The 55-year-old actress said that many people mistake love with something else, reported Daily Telegraph.

"Mostly I`ve learnt to let the negative things out of my life. I think happiness is what`s important to remember, and that any of us might see something that we think looks like love, but then we have to ask: `Is it really bringing happiness to me, my family, my life?` And if it isn`t, then we release it with love and grace. It`s as simple as that," she said.

The actress, who has three sons, said she was raised by much stricter parents than she with her children.

"We knew we`d better do what we were supposed to do. The language kids use today, I say to my boys: `You know, if I had talked like you are talking now, my mother would have washed my mouth out with soap.` And she would literally do that. Don`t get me wrong, they were great parents. It was just a different time back then," she added.
