Mangalore: The fragrance of aromatic candles prepared in Mangalore has reached world over with a rise in its demand, particularly, in the US, UK and Europe.“We produce almost all types of candles in this company. There are pillars, jars, and all other types. Basically, we export our candles to United States. 80% of our exports take place to United States. We also export to Europe and England,” said V K Talithaya, President, primacy industries ltd.
“Customer portfolio includes some of the largest retailers like Wall mart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Rite aide, CVS and so on in the United States and home based, Murphy candles and a few others. We are aggressively marketing in both United States and Europe,” he added.
Fragrances are added to candles of various shapes including cups and jars, flower shaped candles, ball and fruit size candles.
The candles are in most demand during the time of Christmas, harvest, spring and Core when the manufacturers produce four lakh candles per day. There are around 25 varieties of these candles.
“We are making that depends upon the size. The number of candles depends upon the size. We are making around four lakh candles per day is it is a small candle. Medium size candle may be around two lakh per day,” said Umesh M T, chief manager of primacy industries ltd.
