New Delhi: To receive Gotham Award is surely a dream come true for all and Indian comedian Radhika Vaz has just got her dream fulfilled.

Mumbai based comedian, Vaz's hit web series 'Shugs & Fats' has won the 'Breakthrough Series - Short Form award at the 25th Annual Gotham Independent Awards.

Expressing surprise and excitement at the honor, Vaz said she was very happy to receive the award and added that she hopes that now her series would reach to wider audience.

Known for her edgy and bold style, the comedian has carved her place in the Indian and American stand up scene.

Her solo acts such as 'Unladylike' and 'Older.Angrier.Hairier' are said to have attracted huge fan base across India and the US.

Notably, the event also witnessed many career tributes to prestigious artists such as Todd Haynes, Steve Golin, Robert Redford, and Helen Mirren.

Previously, Indian filmmaker Mira Nair received the Gotham Awards tribute for her contribution to independent cinema.

Produced and created by Vaz and Brooklyn-based writer-performer Nadia P. Manzoor, 'Shugs & Fats' is a contemporary satirical series about two Hijabi women clinging on to their heritage and culture in the midst of a westernized, modern Brooklyn civilization.
