International Shimla summer festival from June 2

Shimla: The five-day long International Shimla summer festival, a popular event during which Himachal Pradesh sees an increase in tourism, will start here from June 2, a top official said.

Noted playback singers Abhijit Chatterjee, Sudesh Lahri, Keka Ghoshal, Anand Raj and Punjabi pop singers would be main attraction at the festival to be inaugurated by Governor Urmilla Singh on June 2, Deputy Commissioner of police Onkar Sharma, who is also the chairman of the Organising committee said.

Apart from several local artists, talented artists from neighbouring states would also be invited to perform in the festival, he said, adding that activities like flower show, food festival, painting exhibition would also be organised here.

The festival will conclude on June 6 with a gala ceremony to be attended by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, he added.

International Shimla summer festival is being organised in the state capital, also known as queen of hills, since 1960s. It attracts a large number of national and international tourists.
