London: Jackie Chan's son, Jaycee Chan, has been released after being jailed for six months in China for a drug offence.

The 32-year-old was detained in August 2014 after a police raid on his home, where he had tested positive for marijuana and was caught with 100g of the drug, the BBC reported.

A Beijing court sentenced him in January, taking into account his time already spent in jail.

The American-born Hong Kong actor was arrested with Taiwanese movie star Kai Ko, who was detained for two weeks for drug use.
