Japan's got the best whisky in the world!

New Delhi: The great drinkers in the world, must be shocked and amazed all at the same time—for the very first time Japan's Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 has bagged the 'best in world' whisky title, beating veteran Scottish brands.

According to international dailies, this has happened for the first time in 12 years (since World Whisky Bible was launched) Japan has received the coveted award for best whisky. Also, this is perhaps the first time also when the well-known Scotland failed to feature any of its whiskies in the top five ranks.

Suntory’s Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 is aged somewhere between 12 to 15 years in casks and has been reprotedly described as having a “light, teasing spice” by experts tasting it. The brand 'Yamazaki' is Japan’s oldest whisky company. It boasts of making 18,000 bottles each year, which can be bought only online else at specialist shops, reportedly.

The latest edition of World Whisky Bible by Jim Murray will hit the stands this month.
