Jodhpur: The Film Society of Jodhpur has been conferred with the Pritiman Sarkar Award (2014-15), for the fourth time, for being the best film society in Northern Region in raising awareness and film appreciation.
The award was presented by the Federation of Film Societies of India (North Region).?
It is in recognition of screening of a series of films by the society in 2014-15 in Jodhpur to mark 100 glorious years of Indian cinema under the "Incredible Journey of Indian Cinema".
"We screened 24 films of different times, culture and languages for this 'Incredible Journey of Indian Cinema', which was a month long schedule and was widely appreciated by the film connoisseurs and all the shows stood out to be jam packed.
These screenings included the films as old as Raja Harishchandra," said the Secretary of the society, Mohan Swaroop Maheshwari.
The celebration also included an exhibition on cinema representing its nearly 100 year journey and a seminar, which was participated by leading filmmakers, authors and critics including the present President of the federation, Gautam Kaul.
Incidentally the first award in 1997-98 was also given to the Film Society of Jodhpur, which was presented by Mrinal Sen, the world famous film director and President of International Federation of Film Societies during International Film Festival of India in Hyderabad.
