Los Angeles: Hollywood stars Lena Dunham, Chelsea Handler, Jane Lynch and Josh Groban have come out in support of Kathy Griffin after she announced her departure from "Fashion Police".
Griffin joined the E! show to replace the late Joan Rivers. She left following controversy surrounding Giuliana Rancic's insensitive comments about Zendaya Coleman's Oscars deadlocks. Without mentioning the debacle, she suggested the show was just too mean spirited for her.
Osbourne who left the show just before Griffin's exit praised her former co-host, saying, "I could not be more proud of you @kathygriffin you have my love and support always."
Another former E! personality, Chelsea Handler, also applauded Griffin for her decision to leave "Fashion Police". "@kathygriffin way to go girl. Stick to your guns," she wrote.
Fellow comedienne Rosie O'Donnell tweeted, "Griffin / odonnell - proud of you !!! @kathygriffin."
Support also came from "Glee" star Jane Lynch who wrote, "My brave and courageous friend @kathygriffin You're one classy dame. Onward and upward."
Lynch's co-star Ashley Fink additionally tweeted, "I've worshipped this woman for years and have never been more proud to call her my friend." Lena Dunham has nothing but good words for Griffin as well. "Congrats to my beautiful friend Kathy Griffin for bravely saying enough is enough to intolerance of all kinds on television," she tweeted along with a photo of Griffin wearing a pair of Minnie Mouse ears.
Josh Groban gave Griffin thumbs-up and Aubrey Plaza posted, "I have so much respect for Kathy Griffin. Cheers for doing what you think is right. She is my hero."
After Griffin's departure E! responded saying, "We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. 'Fashion Police' will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30 at 9pm with our talented Co-Hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski and Executive Producer Melissa Rivers.
