London: Kim Kardashian has amassed 14 million fans on Twitter, leaving behind American President Barack Obama in the popularity stakes.
The 31-year-old actress has 5 million more followers than arguably the most powerful man in the world.
“OMG 14 million! I can’t believe it! Thank you guys so much!!!!!!,” the Daily Mail quoted her as tweeting after learning the news.
She then posted a series of pictures of herself blowing kisses to her fans to show her appreciation.
The reality star now has the 7th largest number of followers on the social networking website, also putting her ahead of the Dalai Lama, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates.
The top 6 celebrities are Lady Gaga with over 20 million followers, Justin Bieber with over 18 million followers, Katy Perry with over 16 million followers, Rihanna ties with Shakira as they both have around 15 million followers and in 6th place is Britney Spears.
Obama is number 8 on the Twitter list with a little over 13 million followers while Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney only has a measly 340,000.
Kim later took to her website where she could thank her fans, unhindered by the 140 character limit.
“I can’t believe I just passed 14 million followers on Twitter! This is crazy! Thank you all so much… I love you guys!” she wrote.
“I wanted to give you all a shout out, but it’s impossible to list you all, so I grabbed as many of my Twitter dolls as I could and put you in a gallery!!’
“Sorry if you aren’t there, but I love you all! (And more kisses for you at the end of the gallery, lol!) Xo,’ she added.
