Mumbai: Most North Indian women observe the Kajari teej during the Sawan month or the Bhadrapada months.

This day usually falls three days after Raksha Bandhan and five days before Krishna Janmashtami.  This year, Raksha Bandhan was on 29 August and Krishna Jayanti will be celebrated on 5 September. Women who celebrate Kajari Teej, observed it on 1 September.

Women in Uttar Pradesh, offer prayers to Lord Shiva on this day. Some even offer prayers to Neem tree. They observe fast and break it by eating sattu.
