London: Mojito is the most preferred cocktail among today’s Brits, revealed a survey.

And this explains why the sales of rum have reached their highest level in 40 years, according to Tesco. It said sales grew 12 per cent – faster than any other spirit – last year. “There’s no doubt about it, the Mojito is now the world’s most popular cocktail and it has single-handedly made rum become the spirit of the age,” the Telegraph quoted Mark Suddaby, spirits buyer at Tesco, as saying. “Rum hasn’t been in such large demand since the 60s when rum and coke, or Cuba libre to give it its proper name, was the drink of choice. “Since then we’ve seen various sales peaks such as during the cocktail boom of the early 80s, but nothing quite like this,” he added.
