Mojo Salon review: A promising beauty address in town!

One of the basic prerequisites for having a younger looking, radiant face is to pamper your facial skin with regular but effective clean-ups and facials.

One of the basic prerequisites for having a younger looking, radiant face is to pamper your facial skin with regular but effective clean-ups and facials. Trust me, once you are at the right salon which is staffed with efficient aestheticians, equipped with quality products and of course has the right work ethics dictating the business, spending money on regular beauty treatments becomes more like a worthwhile investment rather than a fruitless expenditure. Thankfully, there are places like the ‘Mojo Salon’ that have all the above mentioned ingredients that a good one requires. With the desire to get some much-needed TLC, I landed at the ‘Mojo Salon’ and met the salon’s owner, Sumukhi, who greeted me warmly and welcomed me inside. After a quick skin analysis, I was suggested the Eminence Skin Lightening Clean-up – an hour-long, eight-step skin cleaning procedure. The fact these days skin care products are replete with chemicals often tends to give me the heebie-jeebies. But Sumukhi put all my skin care concerns to rest by assuring that Eminence is a highly reputed Hungarian organic skin care brand and all their products are skin friendly. With the promise of a healthy looking and beautiful skin, I submitted to the recommended clean-up service. Then after, I was ushered to a clean, quiet and dimly-lit treatment room. As part of its cleanliness measures, the salon stocks disposable gowns to be worn by the client during clean-ups/facials and also, the therapists wear a mask to cover their mouth before beginning to work on important skin services. The aesthetician, Nisha, began the clean-up by giving me a 2-minute dry massage with her fingers, thereby targeting the pressure points on my face, ears and shoulders. She told me that this is done to put the client at ease with his/her surroundings and is also a warming-up procedure. Then, she applied a lemon cleanser to clean my skin by massaging away the dirt and toned my skin by spraying some Soothing Chamomile Tonic. She tapped her fingers softly all over my face so that my skin could soak the toner in. Post that, she applied Rosehip and Maize Exfoliating Scrub all over my face and then scrubbed the dead skin layer off by giving me a 10-minute facial massage. This step was followed by the application of Sugar Plum Revitalising Gel to lighten my skin tone which was then massaged on my skin for an additional 10 minutes. After that, Nisha wiped the residue off my skin and then massaged some droplets of Couprose Sea Serum on my facial skin. That step done, my skin was treated to the goodness of Hibiscus Calendula Recovery Masque and my face was left covered for 15 minutes with thin sheets of tissues dipped in green tea water. After my skin absorbed the goodness of the face pack, it was time for a soothing massage with the velvety Stone Crop moisturiser. And I could feel my stress melting away like never before, thanks to the master strokes of my therapist. The whole peace-inducing massage was over when my therapist applied an organic, sweet-smelling SPF lotion by Eminence as a last step of the clean-up. Eager to see the change the service has bestowed on my facial skin, I realised that the Eminence clean up had done its job very well. I even opted for the salon’s De-tan Pedicure to lighten my tanned tootsies. The pedicurist got working on my feet by cutting, filing and then carefully removing the cuticles. He then gave me a relaxing foot massage which was followed by the application of the de-tan skin masque. By the end of it, I could see a visible improvement in the skin tone of my feet. Pros of ‘Mojo Salon’: First things first, the quality of the service is never compromised here. Cleanliness is a rule of thumb in Mojo. It is an out-and-out unisex salon. A courteous, dedicated and an experienced staff take care of visitors here. Mojo is one of those very rare (and perhaps the only) salons in the city offering Eminence clean-ups besides the brand’s popular facials. The services are affordably priced. The salon has discounts to suit every pocket. Students can avail 30% off on all the services except on selected hair services. Come April 8, the salon will also be offering a happy hour discount of 20% on its services between 12:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Sumukhi, the owner, is a positive presence and ensures proper functioning of the salon. Despite the presence of several salons in the locality, Mojo is a hit among the locals thanks to the goodwill that it is creating for itself.
