London: Novelist F Scott Fitzgerald's home, where he is believed to have penned ' The Great Gatsby,' is on sale .

Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda, had lived in the seven-bedroom Mediterranean-style home located on Long Island, from 1922 until 1924, where he got inspiration and set much of his 1925 novel, the BBC has reported.

A spokeswoman for the estate agency said that asking price of current owner of the Great Neck Estates house was in excess of 3.8 million dollars.

While various mansions in the area are believed to have served as inspiration for the manor described in the book, Fitzgerald's own home hasn't been considered to be one of them.
