The man called Raju Shinde, also an office bearer of Shiv Sena's film wing, Chitrapat Sena, was the owner of a security agency in Mumbai, a leading news channel reported. He was seated in the open when he was shot. He was rushed to Nanavati hospital after being shot in the stomach and arms by two assailants on a motorcycle who managed to escape.
The police are now investigating the matter after nabbing the motorcycle.
Later the lawyer of the security agency contractor who was injured in the incident said Shinde had approached Mumbai police in January seeking protection.
"In January, Raju Shinde had written to Mumbai police saying he has threat to life from two persons - Khalid Khan and Anwar Sayyed," Sushan Kunjuraman told PTI.
In his letter, Shinde had also named his former business partner Rakesh Bhosale, he said.
"Bhosale was using Khan and Sayyed to threaten Shinde as he wanted to usurp his business," the letter said.
