Los Angeles: American singer-songwriter Prince has announced that he and backup band 3rd EyeGirl are launching the US leg of the "Hit & Run" tour, which begins May 14 at a not-yet-disclosed venue in Louisville, Kentucky.

During Prince's recent European tour of the same name, shows were announced with very little notice, which appears to be the case for the stateside run as well, as no other dates or cities for the US tour have been released, said The Hollywood Reporter.

Tickets for the Louisville performance go on sale today, with a part of proceeds benefiting local charities.
Louisville was chosen as the first location because it is the hometown of the band's drummer, Hannah Welton.
