Mumbai: Raksha Bandhan is not just about sweets, food and Rakhis. The auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan marks the significance of the bond between a brother and his sister.

It is very important for parents to teach their children things that would keep them united forever. Once children grow up, get married and settle down ion their respective lives, a gap (geographical or emotional) gets created between siblings.

No matter how old siblings grow, the bond between them must never weaken. Here are a few things parents can teach their children so that they value the pious relationship throughout their lives.

Sharing:

The tendency to share things increases when children are taught to share their belongings. And in case of siblings, it’s easier to inculcate the good habit. This will build a sense of oneness and children will never be obsessed with their respective stuffs.

Raksha:

No matter which child is elder, they will have to be taught to protect each other. This will help children in becoming more responsible as they grow up.

Respect:

One doesn’t need to be older in age to be a recipient of respect. Children must be taught to respect each other and value he bond they share.

United we stand divided we fall:

Come hail come storm, the bond between siblings must never weaken. The sense of oneness will inspire them to remain united through thick and thin.

Family makes home 'sweet home'

Family is what makes home ‘sweet home’. Children must understand the value of family and respect the same. Family is a unit that shares the agonies and ecstasies of life.
