Royal couple to walk the red carpet at BAFTA reception

Los Angeles: Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton will walk the red carpet with British TV, movie and theatre stars for a BAFTA reception.

William, who is the president of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts, will attend the inaugural `BAFTA Brits to Watch` event as part of his visit to California with his new wife.

He will make a brief speech for the star-packed gala on July 9 at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, said The Hollywood Reporter.

"We are incredibly excited by the prospect of bringing some of the most talented emerging Brits in film, television and video games to the attention of arguably the most important people in the moving image industries today.

"We hope this will be only the first of a number of amazing opportunities for us to champion our very finest on-screen talent and behind-the-camera practitioners to the leading names in California," said BAFTA Chairman Tim Corrie.

The list of celebrities who will be attending the bash has not yet been announced. The last ceremony took place at the Royal Opera House.
