This week we will witness a masala entertainer – `Phata Poster Nikhla Hero` and the slice-of-life film – `The Lunchbox` challenging each other’s worth at the box office
Being choosy and super selective didn’t help Shahid Kapoor, who ended up losing out on lucrative film offers. It’s high time this B-town’s chocolate hero needs a hit to get his name inked in the list of bankable actors. After all, he’s one of the best looking dancing heroes we have. All Sasha needs to do is select the right projects which will take him leaps ahead of his contemporaries.
Phata Poster Nikhla Hero: Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi says, “It’s a feel good, candy floss entertainer which the family going audience prefers watching. I don’t expect a humongous opening but considering Shahid Kapoor’s popularity, I certainly expect the movie to do fairly well and also hope it will be Shahid’s biggest grosser.”
Numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi predicts, “This one will click mainly with its target audience (youth and families) who like watching clean-cut comedies with good music and some doze of action. Shahid will be unanimously loved by the public and critics alike for giving a very light-hearted performance winning him all the more fans. Ileana D’Cruz will also give a good account of herself. In short, get ready for having some unadulterated good time which will definitely tickle your funny bone.”
The Lunchbox: After receiving great reviews and getting a standing ovation at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and also winning the Critics Week Viewer’s Choice Award, this much talked-about film starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is finally being served (read releasing) in India. Will director Ritesh Batra’s sweet, simple story about ‘two people who have never met each other fall in love’ be able to tug the heart strings of our Indian audiences as well?
Rathi believes, “It may be a good film with sweet story and superb performances but unfortunately it’s not meant for a wide audience. Plus the budget is also controlled. With presenters like Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap, The Lunchbox has got good amount of equity.”
According to Bhavikk, “This film with crossover appeal will win accolades and appreciation on the Indian shores as well and the business of the film will grow tremendously by strong word of mouth. The trio – Irrfan, Nimrat and Nawazuddin will deliver one of their career’s best performances and shall reap awards and rewards. For them, if there is one film which they need to send to the Academy Awards and is truly worthy of winning an Oscar, it’s most definitely `The Lunchbox`!”
Considering the buzz of PPNH, wethinks it has got a better chance at the box office than the relatively smaller budget TL. Tell us which one will you watch this Friday?
