'The Osbournes' reboot canned

The much-awaited reboot of "The Osbournes" has been shelved by the channel.

Los Angeles: The much-awaited reboot of "The Osbournes" has been shelved by the channel.

VH1 was working on bringing the series back, ten years after the original run ended on MTV, said the Hollywood Reporter.

Matriarch Sharon Osbourne revealed the show was returning for about eight episodes last year, which would serve as a "catch-up" on the family's lives.

But VH1's executive vice president of original programming and production Susan Levison said the revival is no longer happening.

"We are no longer talking to the Osbournes about a series; that's not going to happen. We wish we could have worked it out, but it just didn't come together for us. The family has been absolutely lovely and we wish them the best. We'd love to figure out a way to work with them at some point in the future," she said.

MTV and VH1 are sister networks under the Viacom conglomerate.

"The Osbournes" originally aired on MTV for four seasons from 2002 to 2005.
