US students register longest kiss record in Guinness Book

London: Two students have become the first same-sex pair to make it to the Guinness World Records for the longest continuous kiss ever—a 32 hour, 30 minute, 45 second smooch.

But, Matty Daley, 20, and Bobby Canciello, 19, said there was no romantic motivation for feat—it was simply a plan hatched while procrastinating about a term paper, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The College of New Jersey students beat a record set on Valentine``s Day 2009 by a German couple by 23 minutes.

More than 330,000 people from two dozen countries watched portions of the event, which was completed September 19, through a live web stream.

Canciello and Daley told The Star-Ledger they had petitioned Guinness to certify the record and were amazed at the impact their kiss had around the world.
