Women find unemployed men unattractive

London: Three-quarters of women are not interested in dating a man with no job, a new study has revealed.
Dating site, ‘It’s Just Lunch’, surveyed 925 men and women and found that a whopping 75 percent of women get turned off by men who are unemployed. Though the survey was conducted by a matchmaking service for singles looking to meet ‘normal, well-educated professionals’, the report broke down the numbers to find out whether the votes were finance-based or more complex. Of the 75percent only 33percent staunchly refused to entertain the notion of dating a guy with no job, signalling perhaps that these women were concerned mostly with how much money was stashed away in his bank account. But a generous 43percent said that they would consider seeing a man who was unemployed, if getting a job was his priority in the near future. A mere 21percent responded to the survey by saying they didn’t care and would go out with someone regardless of what their professional status was. Men meanwhile were far more open-minded with 46percent of those participating in the survey being certain that they would date a woman who was out of work and 19percent committing to having ‘no reservations’. From the female perspective, the results seem to indicate that where women have traditionally been labelled as gold-diggers, the main priority nowadays is that a guy shows at least some initiative and direction. The research found that women were more concerned with the idea of a man being ‘engaged in an activity’ than the one earning triple figures. “Not having a job will definitely make it harder for men to date someone they don’t already know,” the Daily Mail quoted Irene LaCota, spokesman for the site as saying. “This is the rare area, compared to other topics we’ve done surveys on, where women’s old-fashioned beliefs about sex roles seem to apply,” LaCota added.
