Women spend 3 years of their lives cooking

Women spend an average of two-and-a-half years of their adult lives cooking.

London: Women spend an average of two-and-a-half years of their adult lives cooking, according to a new UK study.
The figure has halved in the past 50 years, but men still have it easier. The average man cooks for 1.4 years of his life. According to the survey by kitchen appliance manufacturers Breville, women prepare 75 percent of family meals. In 1960, an average British woman spent six years of her life cooking, but things such as labour-saving kitchen equipment and ready meals have cut the figure. "As a professional chef I expect to spend the majority of my life working in the kitchen. But 2.5 years in the kitchen during women`s lifetimes, especially considering that most women are out at work all day, is a massive amount of time," a news daily quoted TV chef Antony Worrall Thompson as saying. "That said, it`s a significant improvement since the Sixties. "It`s no surprise that the men spend less time cooking, but I suspect that the number of men spending more time in the kitchen is increasing all the time. The kitchen is no longer a woman`s domain," he added. ANI
