Zayn Malik was not a crucial musical 1D member, says top music critic

London: Neil McCormick , chief music critic with a leading daily has given his opinion on Zayn Malik leaving One Direction, saying that the singer was not a kind of crucial musical member.

McCormick, chief music critic with the Telegraph asserted that said this was not a serious musical or commercial decision and the 22-year-old singer had made a lot of money and he was not enjoying his life, the BBC reported.

He continued that Malik wasn't a big part of the song writing, as Louis Tomlinson was the one who was most involved in the song writing.

McCormick added that Harry Styles is the one who the whole of the public knows and Malik was one of the chorus boys really.

Malik said that his life with One Direction had been more than he could ever have imagined, but after five years, he felt like it was now the right time for him to leave the band.
