New Delhi: A collection of eight aquatints associated with the womb by Anish Kapoor has sold for Rs 8.6 lakh at a unique online auction which saw a total sale of Rs 60.7 lakh.
Forty five of the 70 lots offered over a 24-hour period under the Saffronart`s new series of `24-hour Auctions` were sold.
The total winning value of Rs 60.77 lakh was inclusive of buyer`s premium.
Kapoor`s `Blackness from Her Womb` on Fabriano Tiepolo paper were signed in English in the lower right.
Tyeb Mehta`s `Head` was sold for Rs 6.25 lakh, Vivek Vilasini`s `Between One Shore and Several Others` Rs 5.05 lakh and Nasreen Mohamedi`s Untitled work fetched Rs 3.70 lakh.
Other works in the top 10 were Zarina Hashmi`s `Journey to the Edge of the Land` (Rs 3.45 lakh), A Balasubramaniam`s `Limited from Unlimited II` (Rs 3.26 lakh), Atul Dodiya`s `Sabari Shaking Mondrain` (Rs 3.16), Multiple
Artists` `A Portfolio of Fourteen Prints` (Rs 2.50 lakh), Nikhil Chopra`s Untitled (from the series Yog Raj Chitrakar, Memory Drawing II, Rs 2.05 lakh) and V S Gaitonde`s `Monsoon` (Rs 1.87 lakh).
Other artists whose works featured in the auction were Akbar Padamsee, Bhupen Khakhar, Anjolie Ela Menon and Arpita Singh.
