Dame Judi Dench to lend her voice in school play

Washington: Dame Judi Dench is set to lend her voice to a British school’s Christmas play’s character.

Students at the Giggleswick School in North Yorkshire, England had reportedly written to the veteran actress asking her to appear in their production and were taken aback when Dench replied.

According to reports, Dench has agreed to record lines for the role of the giant in Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Into the Woods’ and the students are delighted with their new co-star.

“The children are) really, really thrilled. They weren’t really expecting to get her to agree to do it. It will be very inspiring for the kids to step on stage with Judi’s voice behind them,” Contactmusic quoted Andrew Beales, the school’s foundation director as saying.

The play would be shown from 1 to 3 December at the school’s Richard Whiteley Theatre, which has boasted Dench as a patron since 2007.
