Goldberg`s return to ‘Sister Act’ is hit

London: Whoopi Goldberg`s limited run in the West End production of ‘Sister Act’ is attracting fans in huge numbers, so much so that people are camping out for days in a bid to secure tickets.

The actress-turned-US TV personality played nightclub singer Doloris in the hit 1992 movie and its sequel the following year (93).

And last week, she joined the London`s stage show version of the film to play Mother Superior and fans are going to extreme lengths for a chance to see the musical.

Tickets are attracting bids of more than 200 pounds on various websites and die-hard devotees are queueing overnight at the box office outside the London Palladium theatre.

"We always knew that Whoopi as Mother Superior would give us a boost but what we`ve seen at the Palladium is totally unprecedented,” the Daily Star quoted a spokesperson for the producers as telling the city`s Evening Standard newspaper.

"People are queueing from before dawn for day seats - some people are even camping out overnight, and some even remain in the returns queue long after curtain has gone up in the hope of getting a ticket,” he added.
