Indian art, fashion, films to amalgamate in Singapore

Singapore: A forthcoming event, Singapore Indian Icons of the Year 2014, will bring together known names from the world of Indian art, fashion and Bollywood on Aug 24 for a dazzling event with a unique segment of auctions here. Act For Hope is an initiative led by Prerna Jhunjhunwala and Aashna Chopra.

Christened `Camera Catwalk Canvas - Showcasing the Creative Essence of India`, the first-time event to be held at St. Regis, Singapore, will have glitz, glamour and artistry. It will be hosted by Mandira Bedi. Prerna Jhunjhunwala, founder, Art for Hope, said: "India`s upper-crust has a penchant for all things fine and hence the idea of bringing together the best of `Camera Catwalk and Canvas` for those who live life with panache. "It is our endeavour to recognise the extremely talented Indians that the world is proud of. We look forward to engaging and honoring talent in the times to come, as we celebrate India." The categories of the awards event will see a voting process come into play, so that audiences can vote for their favourites. The nominees will be selected by a jury who will shortlist the best of the best in the three fields. While a large part of the voting will be done digitally, Act For Hope has tied up with an Indian FM network to extend voting through the very powerful medium of radio, in India. The Singapore Indian Icons of the Year 2014 will showcase high fashion couture by designers Gaurav Gupta and Anamika Khanna, presented by Outback Steak House. Popular artists like Kumari Nahappan and Vibhor Sogani, known for their contributions to art across Europe, US and Asia, will also come together to showcase the rich artistic and cultural landscape of contemporary India. Names from Bollywood are also likely to mark their attendance. A special highlight will be an auction, allowing bidders a chance to get their hands on a training session on the pitch with cricketer Sourav Ganguly, or a bid for the extremely gorgeous Sabyasachi Mukherjee sari worn Aishwarya Rai in Cannes or for the exceptional art works of leading artists.
