Colombo: Hundreds of Sri Lankan and international folk artists will come together this weekend in Jaffna to celebrate their unique and diverse traditional musical heritage.
Twentyfour folk groups from cities and villages across Sri Lanka and five folk groups from India, Nepal, Palestine, South Africa and Norway will perform at the March 25-27 Jaffna Musical Festival.
The event will showcase Sri Lanka`s rich cultural history. It will provide a forum for folk musicians, who have struggled to engage in and preserve these art forms, a US embassy statement said.
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) is a partner in this collaborative effort initiated through the Norway-Sri Lanka Music Cooperation agreement.
