Jennifer Aniston splashes out USD 450,000 on a painting

London: Actress Jennifer Aniston spent a staggering USD 450,000 at a charity auction on a painting for her new home.

The 42-year-old star, who recently bought, refurbished and sold a house for a whopping USD 35 million, made the bid along with her boyfriend Justin Theroux, reported Daily Mail online.

Aniston picked up the artwork, called Stranger #44, an abstract 2011 work of oil, charcoal and graphite on canvas, by Glenn Ligon, at the `Artists for Haiti` auction in New York.

"Aniston, who was in the room, clapped enthusiastically after [Theroux`s] winning bid," a source said.

The auction, co hosted by Ben Stiller, benefits health and education programs in Haiti, with artists donating their works for the cause.

Along with Aniston`s contribution it raised a total of USD 13,662,000.

The couple also attended a dinner the following night thrown by Ben Stiller for his charity, The Stiller Foundation.

Aniston is good friends with the actor and his wife Christine Taylor, and she and Theroux holidayed with the couple in Hawaii over the summer.
