Los Angeles: A jumpsuit that belonged to country music legend Johnny Cash has been sold for 50,000 dollars, the auction house that organized the sale has said.
The plain blue suit was made famous in a photograph that became known simply as "The Finger," in which the much-troubled singer sneeringly flicks a one-digit salute to the camera as he rehearsed for a concert before the inmates of San Quentin State Prison in California.
A Johnny Cash shirt went under the hammer for 31,250 dollars, a rare poster sold for 25,000 dollars, while knee-high boots he once wore were bought for nearly 22,000 dollars, said Beverly Hills-based Julien`s Auctions.
The "Man in Black," whose biggest hits include "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line" and "Ring of Fire," died at 71 in September 2003, four months after his wife June.
He was the subject of the 2005 biopic, "I Walk the Line," starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
