Kolkata: Offering fashionistas a taste of indigenous textiles, an exhibition beginning Sep 6 in the West Bengal capital will showcase hand-woven furnishings and sarees sourced from weavers across the country.
Exquisite stoles, sarees, bed and table linen along with handicrafts will be on display and sale, at a two-day event organised by the Bengal Home Industries Association. "We source products from craftsmen across India. Most popular items are hand-reeled sarees available in various shades," Chitra Palchoudhuri, honorary secretary of the Association said. Handicrafts on display that are also available for sale will include products fabricated from cotton, silk, jute, terracotta, wood, brass, copper, papier-mache, dhokra (metal work from the Damar tribal group, traditional metalsmiths of West Bengal) and sandalwood.
