Prince Dance Group to perform in Commonwealth Games Ceremony
Berhampur: After showcasing their talent in a TV show, Berhampur based Prince Dance Group is now set to perform in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.
The group gained national fame after it won the reality show `India`s Got Talent` last year and now they will perform in front of dignitaries including Prince Charles at
the gala ceremony.
The international sport event, hosted by India, is scheduled to be held from October 3 at New Delhi.
"We are very happy as we got a chance to show our skill in an international event," the leader of the dance group, Krishna Mohan Reddy said.
However the group is yet to decide on the item they will present at the opening.
"We don`t think so far, as the date of event to be held is in the month of October. We are now busy with other programmes," said Reddy who is currently performing in Hyderabad with his troupe.
With no formal professional training, most members of the group of Ambapua, at the outskirt of Berhampur were daily labourers. But their performance was praised by all including the judges of the show, director Shekhar Kapur, actress Sonali Bendre and Kiron Kher.
The members of the group including two polio-stricken persons, all below 22-years of age had performed dances like the `Kalia Dalana`, `Sare Jahanse Achha`, `Dasavatara` in the reality show in August, 2009. The group had won Rs 50 lakh cash along with a car.
