Taufiq Qureshi uses recycled cans for Lord Ganesha tribute New Delhi: Popular Indian classical vocalist and percussionist Taufiq Qureshi has used a concoction of recycled cans and drums to create a special musical tribute on the occasion of Ganesh festival.

Qureshi, along with his band Mumbai Stamp, has produced a composition called ‘Taal Pranam’ for the festival, which starts Wednesday. The music will have sounds of the Pune dhol and Nashik dhol, but without the use of actual instruments.

"Lord Ganesha is also known as the father of rhythm and this special rendition is our way to pay tribute to the music maestro," Qureshi, known for using different sounds, said in a statement.

The composition has been made in collaboration with music channel 9XM.

"We had an amazing experience of creating `Taal Pranam` and hope that the viewers will enjoy it as much as we did creating it," he added.

‘Taal Pranam’ will have a blend of Qureshi`s music and Ganesha chants and hymns. It will be played on 9XM during the Ganesh festival, Sep 18-29.

Qureshi has rendered background score and music for movies like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Saawariya’, ‘Dhoom 2’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and ‘Jab We Met’.
