Mumbai: Veteran playwright and director Satyadev Dubey suffered a seizure on Monday in Mumbai. Dubey was rushed to the nearby Sujay Hospital.
While Dubey was shifted to another hospital in Irla the next day, his condition is said to be fragile. According to sources, he has now slipped into coma.
Ever since the news broke out, the Indian theatre fraternity has been distraught and praying for his speedy recovery.
Dubey has been a well known figure in the Indian theatre circuit. Although the 75-year-old hasn’t staged a play since 2008, he has been regularly conducting theatre workshops at Prithvi.
His last production, as a writer-director, Khuda Ke Liye Mat Dekhna was a semi-autobiographical playIn 2008, Prithvi Theatre dedicated their annual fest to Dubey. Earlier this year, Dubey was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
