New Delhi: Based on Chetan Bhagat`s novel, `2 States` is the age old story of two lovers who are not able to unite due to the differences in their backgrounds. Well, at least that`s what the trailers suggest.
With a predictable storyline (assuming that most of us have read the book), the movie may have to rely heavily on crisp narration and great acting by the leads.
Alia Bhatt has proved her mettle by breaking out of the school girl mode in Imtiaz Ali`s `Highway`. Arjun Kapoor too has given good performances in `Ishaqzaade` and `Aurangzeb`. The two of them together have been in the news for their sizzling chemistry on screen and off-screen cosying up at various events and in Twitter `Selfies`.
The débutante director, Abhishek Varman, who is the son of veteran art director R Varman has worked with Ashutosh Gowariker for `Jodha Akbar` and Karan Johar for `My Name in Khan` and `Student of the Year`.
The music of the movie is young and peppy going with the mood of the modern Indian rom-com, and it has been well received by the audience.
With a modern take on Indian romance, a nippy script, some good humour scattered through the movie may make the movie work.
The Box Office will soon tell us the truth.
