New Delhi: Karan Johar says that his next directorial venture ‘Student Of The Year’ (SOTY) is a big responsibility on him as the future of three newcomers depends upon the film`s Box Office performance.
"The film is a big responsibility on Dharma Production`s shoulders and mine. We are launching the career of three new faces through this film - Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra. All of them are very promising and talented. So, we as a production house have to make sure that we stand up to the expectation of all," said Karan.
He was in the capital to cheer for his designer friend Manish Malhotra , who presented his couture collection Saturday at the Delhi Couture Week.
Alia is filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan`s daughter; Varun is director David Dahwan`s son, while Siddharth is a model. Their fate will be decided when SOTY hits screens Oct 19.
The first trailer of SOTY was launched Aug 2 and Karan says he has "planned an elaborate promotional activities" to create awareness about the film.
"We will start with the release of the first song online on Aug 24, followed by music launch," added the 40-year-old known for directing hits like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ and producing successful films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Wake Up Sid!’.
Karan has co-produced SOTY with Shah Rukh Khan`s Red Chillies Entertainment.
