Mumbai: The newest hunk in the town, Ranveer Singh is being flooded with tempting offers but the actor can do little to grab them.
Wondering why? Well, Yash Raj scion Aditya Chopra has strictly instructed Ranveer not to take up assignments without his consent.
Apparently, Nishikant Kamat and UTV had approached the BBB sensation for a film based on hockey. Though Ranveer loved the script, he couldn’t proceed any further.
Talking to a daily, a source revealed, “Aditya has clearly told Ranveer that he should work with only hit directors when doing `outside` movies. And since Nishikant`s `Mumbai Meri Jaan` wasn`t a commercial success, his hockey movie was declined."
Apparently, Ranveer was in awe of the script presented by Kamat.
"Basically, the story revolves around a small town guy who aspires to play for the Indian team. And against all odds, he not only dons the national colours, but also plays brilliantly to ensure his team`s victory in the championship," the source said while explaining the character.
What could possibly be another reason for Aditya to tell Ranveer not to accept the offer was because Yash Raj’s `Chak De! India` starring Shah Rukh Khan too revolved around a Hockey player.
Defending Aditya’s move, the source said, "They maintain creative control over all their productions. In this case, they`re more skeptical as they won`t be creatively involved either. So following Aditya`s strong suggestion, Ranveer declined the UTV production venture."
