Mumbai: Bollywood’s brooding actor Ajay Devgn, who is basking in the glory of ‘Singham’ has almost doubled his fee.
Apparently, Ajay never believed in hiking his price even after giving back-to-back hits. As of now, the tall, dark and handsome actor has become one of the most bankable stars of B-Town.
Buzz has it that Ajay, who used to charge anywhere between Rs. 6-8 crore per flick, has finally decided to raise his fee. It is believed that the actor has been paid a whopping amount of Rs. 18 crore for Vashu Bhagnani’s ‘Himmatwala’ remake.
Talking to a daily, a source said, “Ajay Devgn is one of the most bankable stars in the industry today. In the last couple of years he has given many hits like ‘Golmaal 3,’ ‘All The Best,’ ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge,’ ‘Rajneeti’ and ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.’ But it is only after ‘Singham’ that Ajay has decided to hike his price. After all, ‘Singham’ earned a profit of over Rs 100 crore.”
Meanwhile, speaking about the Devgn’s sudden price rise, a source close to the actor said, “Ajay Devgn is someone who has a fair knowledge of the business and distribution. He has also been involved in the distribution business for some time now. And that’s the reason why he never believed in increasing his price. He would stick to Rs 6-8 crore for his films. But after ‘Singham,’ his market value has now multiplied. And so, when he was offered ‘Himmatwala’ by director Sajid Khan, he took it up at an increased fee.”
When contacted, Ajay’s manager said, “We do not like discussing finances with everybody.”
