New Delhi: Akshay Kumar – who wowed the audience with his stupendous performance in ‘Namastey London’ in 2007 – is all set to recreate the magic with its sequel. “After a thriller (Aankhen, 2002) and a family drama (Waqt : The Race Against Time, 2005), Namastey London was my first love story. In India, the biggest test for any director is to make a successful love story. And I passed that test,” a leading daily quoted Vipul Shah – who directed ‘Namastey London’ – as saying. According to the buzz, Vipul and two of his writers — Suresh Nair and Ritesh Shah – had been working on the sequel for two years and as Vipul’s luck would have it, it got ready on his birthday and Akshay decided to gift him the film on his special day. Though the upcoming venture is a sequel, ‘Namastey London 2’ will apparently not be a continuation of the original movie. If rumours are anything to go by, the sequel will be a love triangle between two heroines and one hero. Vipul said, “The philosophy of the film and most of the locations will be the same. We will be shooting in London, Punjab and Mumbai. The new additions are Germany and Switzerland. The sequel will be done on a more opulent scale as we don`t want to lose our audience. It has been challenging for us to reinvent ourselves. Both Akshay and I are really excited about it.” It will surely be a treat to watch Akshay in the Punjabi avatar!
