Mumbai: The hullabaloo surrounding recently released film ‘Aarakshan’ has not deterred Prakash Jha from venturing into another issue based film. Anna Hazare’s ongoing anshan seems to have inspired one and all and Jha too has taken a leaf out of Anna’s book.
Jha will be teaming up with Amitabh Bachchan yet again after the duo made headlines with their controversial flick ‘Aarakshan.’ The film garnered at the Box Office despite being banned in a few states. The ban was eventually lifted after the intervention of the Supreme Court.
The new film has drawn inspiration from Anna’s peaceful agitation against corruption. Titled ‘Satyagraha,’ the film will talk about non-violent protests against bribery.
While talking to a tabloid, Jha refrained from revealing details of the film and said, “I am at the moment working on the script of ‘Satyagraha.’ It is about peaceful protest, though not on a pan India level. The cast is yet to be finalised, but Bachchan saab will be in the film.”
Amitabh Bachchan shall play the lead role which is fashioned on the lines of the 74 year old crusader against corruption.
The filmmaker expressed his take on Anna’s movement and said, “The upsurge of mass protest against corruption that Anna Hazare has generated is indeed unprecedented and remarkable.”
However, he feels the motive behind the agitation need to be channelised properly.
“The fight against corruption should be more focused and specific in its motivation. For instance, why not start by simply campaigning against anyone giving or taking a bribe," asked Jha.
