Mumbai: Miffed by producer Aamir Khan’s high-handed behaviour of hijacking the creative control of ‘Peepli Live’, Anusha Rizvi has finally decided that she will not lobby for the film at the prestigious Oscars.
Talking to a daily about her estranged relations with Aamir she said, “I thought this was the last question about Aamir Khan.”
‘Peepli Live’ was a dream run for debutant director Anusha Rizvi, whose scathing satire on rural India and Indian politics was nominated to the Oscars. Despite all its critical fame and commercial success, Anusha Rizvi is far from happy.
When enquired whether she will be promoting ‘Peepli Live’ at the Oscars, Anusha said, “I will not be going to promote ‘Peepli Live’ in USA. It`s just America`s national awards, right?”
Apparently, this is not the first time when Anusha has expressed her displeasure about Aamir’s over-enthusiasm in promoting and marketing ‘Peepli Live’. Even her husband and co-director Mahmood Farooqui has admitted in the past that they had taken a step back ever since Aamir took complete reigns of the film.
“I would rather have 50 people watch ‘Peepli Live’ without all this promotion than 200 people watch it with the hype,” said Anusha.
It’s not the first time that Aamir’s association in the filmmaking process has come under the scanner. Earlier, the scriptwriter and director of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ – Amol Gupte was sacked halfway because Aamir (producer of TZP) did not feel that Amol was doing justice to the film. Similarly, even as Aamir was not the producer of ‘3 Idiots’, he slammed Chetan Bhagat’s demand for due credits to his novel ‘Five Point Someone’.
