Mumbai: Ashutosh Gowariker said he wants to direct a Marathi movie but is too preoccupied with other commitments.
"I will love to make a Marathi movie but I am hard pressed for time. Currently, I am busy with my other movie commitments," the 46-year-old director said.
Ashutosh, whose `Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se` starring Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone is lined up for release, said he was very proud to see the way Marathi movies are comping up these days.
While Ashutosh has helmed Hindi movies like `Lagaan`, `Swades` and `Jodhaa Akbar`, he has only acted in Marathi cult movies including `Sarkarnama`, `Vazir` and `Ek Ratra Mantarleli`.
Ashutosh was speaking on the occasion of music launch of Marathi movie `Sumbaran` directed by Gajindre Ahire. The movie would be premiered in the ensuing International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa.
`Sumbaran`, a musical, would be Ahire`s fourth film to be screened at Goa. Earlier, his `Not Only Mrs Raut`, `Bayo` and `Shevri` were shown at the prestigious film festival.
Ashutosh also recalled his long association with the movie`s music director Rahul Ranade. "My association with Rahul goes back to 1984 when we both had worked in `Holi`. It was because of him and the way the movie has shaped up, that I was compelled to come for this music launch," Ashutosh said.
`Sumbaran` is a romantic love story of a village left behind starring popular Marathi actors including Jitendra Joshi, Makrand Anaspure.
