Mumbai: He must be titled the `king of controversies’, for he has a number of adverse issues attached to his name. Or we may say he loves stirring controversies. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is in news again; this time for hurting the sentiments of people belonging to the district of Bezwada, Andhra Pradesh.
Reportedly, the shooting of the film in question was stalled last week by the Vijaywada Police Commissioner, Amit Garg following appeals from a group of lawyers. The title of the film, ‘Bezwada Rowdilu’ (Rowdies of Bewada- Vijayawada’s old name) has not been appreciated by the local community who are now demanding a change of the film’s title.
Many people have gone on a hunger strike in protest but Ramu is more than adamant to change his stance.
People from the region have not had a great reputation hence they feel such a portrayal or representation of the region will make matters worse for them.
This is not the first time RGV has landed himself in such a hullabaloo. He had also made headlines for allegedly making a film on Neeraj Grover (a professional from the showbiz industry, who was brutally murdered by his girlfriend), without seeking permission from his family to go ahead with his project.
His multi-lingual film ‘Raktha Charita’ starring Vivek Oberoi too provoked several groups who demanded a ban on the film.
