Bhandarkar denies approaching any actress for `Heroine`
Mumbai: Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar finally spoke about the fate of his magnum project gone awry – ‘Heroine’. After much brouhaha over lead actress Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy which pushed the shoot of the film to an indefinite limbo, Madhur let all know about the prospects of his most ambitious project via Twitter.
"Speculations in the media of me approaching actresses for my film HEROINE are totally baseless!!!," Bhandarkar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Following reports of ‘Heroine’ being revived with Kareena Kapoor as the lead actress, director Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted: "Whether I will revive film `HEROINE`, will decide after consultations with UTV or a fresh film, will surely update u in near future !!!"
As of now ‘Heroine’ stands officially shelved after lead actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's pregnancy was made public. Certain scenes were deemed to be unfit for the Bachchan bahu, now past her first trimester.
The fiasco led to a pained and depressed Bhandarkar lashing out at Aishwarya, claiming the actor hid her pregnancy and that he learnt about the news "like everybody else".
No official word is available as yet, but Bhandarkar has reportedly been sending feelers to Bebo.
The whole affair in fact left the whole industry debate over a "no-pregnancy" clause in contracts of the actress.
