Bollywood actor-director turns informer for Ravi Pujari
New Delhi: Nexus between Bollywood and underworld runs deep. In a revelation, it has emerged that an upcoming Bollywood actor named Ravi Kapoor a.k.a Ravi Punjabi used to work as an informer for underworld don Ravi Pujari.
Telephonic conversations between them reveal Kapoor’s involvement in an extortion racket involving some top builders of the city. The tapes even have the don threatening Kapoor, saying he will be killed with 24 hours if he tries to disclose information about their dealings.
Ravi Punjabi, 32, whose family is into real estate development in the far western suburbs, was arrested by the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) from near the United States Information Service office, Churchgate. He has been remanded to police custody till December 10.
“He primarily passed information (mostly telephone numbers) about businessmen and builders to Pujari, which helped the gangster make ransom calls,” a senior crime branch officer told Zee News, requesting anonymity.
Punjabi had recently directed a film, ‘World Cup 2011’, in which he played the lead role.
He had changed his name to Ravi Kapoor for the film. The film depicted the match-fixing racket in cricket.
Ravi Kapoor claimed to have received threats from Pujari two days before the release of the film.
