Bollywood actress Amita Pathak doing two comedy films
Mumbai: Bollywood actress Amita Pathak, known for her role in Priyandarshan`s `Aakrosh`, will be soon seen in two comedy films.
Amita made her debut alongside actors Adhyayan Suman and Nakuul Mehta in Anil Devgan`s `Haal-E`Dil` (2008) that was produced by her father, Kumar Mangat. The film fared poorly at the box office.
But Amita shot to fame with her key role in `Aakrosh` (2010). She even went on to produce `Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?` under the banner Wide Frame Films last year. The movie, featuring Ajay Devgn, Paresh Rawal and Konkana Sen, did average business at the box office.
"I have two films in my kitty. One is a romantic- comedy that would be directed by my brother Abhishek Pathak and the other is a comedy to be directed by a new comer. It is too early to talk about my role and co-stars as the projects are in the stage of scripting," Amita told reporters.
Both films that Amita acted in were made under her father`s banner - Big Screen Entertainer. Her two upcoming films are also being produced under the same banner.
Besides, the actress has two other offers in her hand. "I have two more films that are outside our production banner. One is a serious film and the other is a comedy. But I am in two minds about going both the films."
"I would like to focus more on acting. Producing films and other things will take a backseat at least for sometime. As the acting life of actress in Bollywood is not as long as their male counterparts, I would like to be part of qualitative cinema," Amita said.
"For the time being I am not going to produce films. I want to make my career in acting. After I produced `Athi Tum...` people thought I have left acting and turned a producer. If something excites me then I might look into production again," Amita said.
The actress, who idolises Madhuri Dixit, said she was keen on acting since young age. "Right since my childhood I was keen on acting in films. I remember when my father was making `Khilaaf` with Chunky Pandey and Madhuri Dixit. After seeing her, my crave for acting increased."
