Celluloid version of Anna Hazare’s life in the making
Mumbai: Bollywood filmmakers seem to have learnt the importance of making cinema that is closer to real life, for they recreate happenings that concern the masses at large.
Buzz has it that actor-singer Raghuvir Yadav will essay a role sculpted on `crusader against corruption`, Anna Hazare in Ishraq Shah’s `Ek Bura Aadmi`.
Talking to a tabloid, a source from the sets in Udaipur said, “Raghuvir Yadav is most definitely playing Anna Hazare. The character is supposed to be a grassroot-level social worker, who launches into non-election politics, refuses to contest elections and leads the people into a state of collective protest with an andolan called Bharat Jaago.”
‘Yeh Saali Zingadi’ sensation Arunoday Singh portrays Yadav’s right hand in the film.
“Arunodoy Singh plays his favourite pupil and protégée who takes Yadav’s movement forward,” added the source.
Reportedly, a sequence shot lately has a lot of similarity with the recent fast-unto death resolution taken by the 71 year old social activist and staged at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
Shah chose not to divulge any information about the film and its subsequent relation with Anna Hazare. He said, “I can only tell you that Raghurvirji plays a social activist whose aversion to active politics causes the nation’s collective conscience to awaken. He supports only the poor and downtrodden, favours privatization and opposes the politics of reservation. Whether he is Anna Hazare or not I’d like to keep to myself until my film is released.”
